STREAM RELEASE

press RELEASE

Portland, OR - Indie/Electropop multi-hyphenate Patternist, aka Gabe Mouer, releases his latest EP ‘Give It Up’ on December 9, 2016.

Flowing from romantic pinings to troubled ruminations on mental illness and the brevity of life, Mouer’s honest lyrical stylings contrast the rhythmic synths, danceable beats, and lush soundscapes that make up Give It Up EP.

Patternist has been the subject of features in Idolator, All Things Go, PopMatters, The Huffington Post, Indietronica and more, along with Spotify playlist features on "Fresh Finds", "Discover The Unknown", "Under The Radar" and "Indie Rock All-Stars". His third EP in less than 2 years, Give It Up is a self-produced effort that combines wistful lyrics with Mouer’s unique brand of shimmering bedroom pop.

Highly recommended if you like St. Lucia, The 1975, Phoenix and Local Natives.

“…shamelessly wide-eyed. Irresistibly so.” – PopMatters

Bio

Soulful Indie Electropop from Portland, Oregon, Patternist bursts with a blend of rhythmic synths, heart-thumping percussion, and lush arrangements that backdrop songwriter Gabe Mouer's boyish tenor and wistful lyrics. Having spent his formative years opening for national acts such as Juliet Simms, The Ataris, and Train, the young songwriter left his former band to finish school  before reemerging as a solo artist in late 2014. Echoing the sensibilities of musical auteurs like Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel, Patternist's debut EP, Youth is Fading, was written and performed solely by Mouer. Released early 2015, the EP helped to generate buzz from bloggers, critics, and industry insiders in multiple countries, as well as spending several weeks on CMJ's Top 200. Mouer has licensed music to over a dozen television shows and programs including Keeping Up with the KardashiansMTV's Real WorldBad Girls Club, and companies like Intel, Adobe, and Discovery Networks. Songs from his 2015 EP, Summer Singles, have been featured on outlets such as The Huffington Post, PopMatters, and Idolator in addition to several Spotify-curated playlists including Fresh Finds, Indie Rock All-stars, and Discover the Unknown. Starting off strong in 2016, Patternist supported Finish Ticket (Elektra) & Vinyl Theatre (Fueled By Ramen) on The Ones to Watch Tour playing to sold-out crowds across the Western US. Fresh off the tour Gabe hid away in his home studio to write and record his third EP in less than two years, Give it Up. The EP’s debut single, Far From Now, co-written with Wild Cub’s Jeremy Bullock, released August 22 with the EP due out December 9, 2016.
